TECHNICAL SERVICES ASSISTANT MANAGER

Job Summary: 

Assist superior in overseeing and leading maintenance procedures and actions in the company which includes managing the maintenance activities for the machinery, warehouses, landscapes, and offices. Responsible for safety and efficiency of the employees and terminal, and at the same time comply with the organizational requirements and company procedures. Provide management support in making profitable long-term and short-term business decisions that meet high-quality standards.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Plan and establish preventive and major maintenance activities including overhaul scheduled maintenance and resources for all mechanical/electrical plant and equipment.

  • Maintain the maintenance frequency and standardize materials, spares, equipment, and tools required for cost-effective maintenance works.

  • Review the maintenance spare parts, initiate procuring process and ensure parts availability at the economical stock levels and avoid hindrance to port operations.

  • Direct and participate in the compilation of competent plant and equipment maintenance data and perform analysis to establish the reliability and ensure availability of equipment, and investigate, and prevent recurring problems.

  • Raise/review plant modification and liaise directly with immediate superior or HOD.

  • Responsible for operation and maintenance of all electrical and mechanical machinery, facilities and equipment within the company’s premises and jurisdiction.

  • Ensuring that all electrical and mechanical equipment and appliances are kept in good operating condition and unscheduled shutdowns are kept to a minimum.

  • Maintenance and troubleshooting of all electrical and mechanical equipment available in the plant to maintain uninterrupted operation.

  • Update and maintain records/reports systematically according to discipline and incorporate the data into the Master Maintenance plan.

  • Ensuring that all safety and firefighting equipment is always kept in good operating condition. To carry out regular testing on all safety devices and alarm systems.

  • Liaison with Government agencies, local authorities and statutory bodies on maintenance and engineering matters.

  • Liaison with local contractors and vendors on maintenance, engineering, and procurement matters.

  • Adhere to all LMTSB Safety policies and procedures.

  • Any other responsibilities to be assigned by superior/management from time to time.

Qualification:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 7 years of working experience in the related field is required for this position.

  • Candidate with experience in maintenance of conveyor, port material handling equipment and Siemen’s control system is an added advantage.

 

Skills:

  • Analytical and meticulous in performing the task assigned.

  • Excellent leadership skills and ability to perform multiple tasks independently and efficiently.

  • Medically fit and shall be able to work on heights.

  • Ability to make decisions in high-stress situations.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • A team player with good communication skills, able to interact with people from all levels.

  • Excellent documentation/written skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
